CALLAWAY, VA :: The Moonshine Modified Series has been added to the 2014 Franklin County Speedway schedule with 7 events.
The Moonshine Modifieds will be the first Modified series to compete at Franklin County Speedway in several years. The Moonshine Modifieds will kick off their 2014 season with a 40-lap feature race on Sunday, April 27th as part of the Industrial Floor Systems Spring Sizzler which will also feature the tracks Late Model division giving the fans two headline divisions.
The Moonshine Modifieds will replace dates previously announced for the now defunct Rolling Thunder Modifieds series. The Moonshine Modifieds will compete with similar cars to RTM but will allow more Modified division cars with all being competitive. The Moonshine Modifieds will race on 10″ Hoosier F-45 scuffs to keep the cost to the competitors down with the option of 8″ or 10″ wheels.
“Modifieds have been a big part of the history of Franklin County Speedway,” said track promoter Langley Austin. “While it’s no NASCAR Modified tour, it’s the next best thing and will certainly entertain the fans just as much.”
Rules for the Moonshine Modifieds are set to be released in the coming days. Dates for the Moonshine Modifieds are Sunday April 27th, Monday May 26th, Saturday July 5th, Saturday August 16th, Sunday August 31st, Sunday September 14th and Saturday October 4th.
“We’re going to run the Modifieds as much as possible this season. We’re looking to work with the schedules of these Modifieds at other area tracks such as South Boston and Langley Speedway. We’ve found seven dates that should accommodate these cars very well and should easily give us a second top tier division.”
