CALLAWAY, VA :: Holiday race weekends are always a special time at Franklin County Speedway but this year with doubleheader race days on all three summer holidays it’s sure to make them extra special for drivers and fans.
Throw in a program to honor our Armed Forces for each of the three weekends and it’s the perfect All-American event with horsepower, patriotism, military and fireworks. The Texas Tavern Patriotic Salute will take place on Saturday August 30th at 7pm as the first leg of the Labor Day Weekend doubleheader.
“No fans are more patriotic than race fans,” said Franklin County Speedway promoter, Langley Austin. “Holiday race weekends are special to all Americans from Memorial Day to Independence Day to Labor Day and all those weekends we’ll have plenty of entertainment for them as well as a spectacular fireworks show.”
Texas Tavern has come on board to sponsor the August 30th event and plans are being developed now to have members of our Armed Forces in attendance for various activities including presentation of colors, grand marshal and much more. This will be Texas Tavern’s first sponsorship at Franklin County Speedway in the 84 year existence of the downtown Roanoke, VA restaurant.
“We’re excited to start a relationship with Franklin County Speedway,” said Texas Tavern owner Matt Bullington. “I’ve never personally been there but just like Texas Tavern they’ve got a long and storied history and we think partnering with them will help bring more awareness to the Texas Tavern brand.”
The partnership between Franklin County Speedway and Texas Tavern won’t have to wait until August 30th however and the fans will be the big winners in this deal. Texas Tavern will have their mobile setup at the track for the season opening Racing Dynamiks 200 on Sunday April 13th. This will allow fans to try the food from Texas Tavern in case they’ve never been to the downtown Roanoke location or if they’re already in love with the food.
“Texas Tavern isn’t just a business or a restaurant in the Roanoke Valley but it’s a landmark that people everywhere know about,” stated Austin. “We’re excited to have them as a part of our program this year and we’re excited to give fans who have never tried their food the chance to taste it.”
Texas Tavern will also set up on the night of their race event and could be a part of other events at the track this season in addition to the tracks regular concessions.
“”We’re expecting the stands to be full this season. That means Texas Tavern will have a lot of people to offer their food to and that might be something they want to do on a more consistent basis.”
The Texas Tavern Patriotic Salute is sure to be one of the biggest races of the season with the tracks Late Model division headlining the night but also featuring touring series with the Southern Ground Pounders and SVSRL Mini Cups. The event will also feature buy one, get one free tickets to all active or retired Military or Free Admission to any Military members in uniform for the event.
Franklin County Speedway is set to open up on Saturday April 13th at 3pm with the Racing Dynamiks 200 which will feature a 100-lap Late Model race and racing in five other divisions.
