CALLAWAY, VA :: There’s many different ‘big’ races coming to Franklin County Speedway during the 2014 season. However, none may be bigger than the U-Car Nationals that will hit Franklin County Speedway on Saturday July 5th.
Just like all the other support divisions, the U-Cars are often left with the feeling that they’re overlooked as the premier divisions get the spotlight most of the time. The U-Cars will have their own share of the spotlight this season as the biggest U-Car race around hits the high banked 3/8 mile track for a 65-lap special event on Saturday July 5th.
The race will boast a $1,000 payday to the winner and the big purse is expected to draw cars from all over the country. The U-Cars run under different names and different sets of rules all over the country including Pure 4’s, Sport Compacts as well as many other names. This race will bring all those cars and all those rules under one roof for one big event.
“The U-Cars showed us last year that they had potential under the right circumstances to showcase the biggest fields of any division,” said track promoter Langley Austin. “This race will bring the cars from near and far. Using weight to even up the cars based on the different sets of rules will allow cars to come from any track in the country and compete against what we think are some of the best U-Cars anywhere here at Franklin County Speedway.”
Though the U-Cars fall under different sets of rules all around the region, Austin is confident that the track staff will be able to make the entire field competitive.
“We’re already looking around at other tracks rules within a few states both asphalt and dirt and seeing what adjustments we’ll have to make to make all the cars competitive with one another,” stated Austin. “This will be one of the biggest U-Car races in the country and I’m certain we can get one of the biggest fields of U-Cars ever assembled.”
More details will be released on this event in the coming weeks with early entry forms being released in the next couple of days. Early entry and inspection fee for the event from now until May 31st is only $50. Entries recieved from June 1st to July 3rd are $75 and entries the weekend of the race will be $100.
